Web cam driver problem with 10.3 and 10.2.8

After a bunch of playing, and discovering that I had never gotten on 
the video beta list,
I downloaded 1.1b27 installed it (only on 10.2.8 so far) and rebooted.

Still nothing.

The console shows:

IOXperts: DCam vdig Found
Pyro Web Cam1 0050C50000063029
IOXperts: ADS Pyro Web Cam with unique ID 0050C50000063029 found

BTV Pro (5.4.1) never finishes launching; goes into the spinning beach 
ball.

Without the camera plugged in, iChat allows me to get to the 
preferences panel.

Plugging in the Pyro, launches iChat, but attempting to select 
preferences launches the spinning beach ball, and in the Force Quit 
menu iChat goes red (not responding.)

One thing which I find interesting is that a ps auxw shows:

/Library/Application Support/IOXperts/IOXperts Device 
Monitor.app/Contents/MacOS/IOXpe...
and
/System/Library/Image 
Capture/Devices/TWAINBridge.app/Contents/MacOS/TWAINBridge

both running as my userid. (along with a bunch of related frameworks.)
