Stuck

Just downloaded 1.1.2b4 but havn¹t really even had a chance to try earlier
version as am stuck on first base with 9000 still flickering badly in
PhotoBooth.
What chance other software if Macs own having trouble?
Reinstalled PB alone from Leopard disc using Pacifist, flickering still
present.
Are there certain Mac files I should manually delete in the hope that their
re-creations will be clean?  PB & iChat used to be ok.
