Hi All,

Thanks for the latest release, havn’t tried it yet because I seem to have acquired a completely different problem with the Logitech camera.

As said earlier, I would be getting a USB 2.0 card. Have now installed the Sonnet Allegro PCI card and have the camera plugged in directly.

Have also bought the Elgato EyeTV 250 Plus which requires USB 2.0 and that is still working fine (though I can’t get the upgrade to EyeTV 3 because someone has already used the activation key to do that! and the TVTV subscription expired on 01/01/01! Am having words with the reseller tmrw ...)

There is a reason for telling you this – in trying to upgrade to EyeTV 3, I needed to scan my invoice to send them a copy (no proof of purchase card in the box either – humph). Have a Microtek Scanmaker 6800 and in Tiger, was using the ScanWizard 5 driver. This does not work in Leopard and neither does the ScanWizard Pro 7 (SilverFast will work but is too expensive and apparently Microtek are looking into the matter ...).

Anyway, after uninstalling both the Microtek scanner finder and SW5, the webcam started to work almost properly so there was a conflict with one or the other and my guess is it’s the scanner finder. Interesting but I guess not excessively helpful since no one will have those scanner drivers installed with Leopard if they have sense! However it might be worth keeping an eye on Microtek’s solution when it comes up with one.

To return to my present troubles, apart from the window resizing problem which also occurs using VideoViewer, the image window suddenly acquired interruptions of green and purple fuzziness so I uninstalled everything and plugged the webcam into a different USB 2.0 port. However, upon checking that PhotoBooth was ok – it was not. The picture does not flash with green & purple but it does flash and flicker constantly which it did not used to do.

Meanwhile, EyeTV is working fine so am a bit stuck – it does not obviously appear to be the new card but am no expert.

Any suggestions ?? Is the Belkin USB 2.0 card better ?? Is it the card’s fault ??

Will install 1.1.2b1 when the camera has stabilised with the native drivers.

Thanks in advance,

James

BTW: Am ‘telling’ here but asked BTV if they could help with my previous camera & software problems (lots of nasty crashes with button shutdowns) and they suggested the Macam driver might work – it didn’t even recognise the camera so IOX have the lead ... And I don’t begrudge the 20 bucks.

Hang in there Carl & Francisco, Steve & the team will get it sorted, uncharted waters and all that ..
