Thanks for that Paul -- but I was only testing the Beta as so far I've
not been able to obtain a "half decent" camera that works at all.
That is, I've never had any serial number thus far, so can't imagine
getting one now could help. Could it?

That other webcam driver software (what shall remain nameless :P)
claims to work with the Communicate STX, and almost does.  But has
rather serious thread locking bugs reulting in millions of syslog
entries under Leopard. So close! Yet so far.

It's been a long journey this one! Not giving up though. I'm going to
try the 5000 Pro again with IOX since we've gone from b5 to b6 version
now. Wish me luck!

For what it's worth, I bought a iMage cam (UVC). It worked "truly
plug'n'play", just as advertised. But its light handling is really
very poor -- especially for the price and overall lack of other
features. I sent it back.
