Lombard_WavelanGold_Linksys Connectivity

Hello, I have just joined this list, in hopes of finding a solution  
to my strange problem, and to hopefully contribute in the future!
I have an Apple Lombard PowerBook running OSX 10.3.9, my Lucent  
Wavelan Gold card with ioexperts diver work perfect at work when  
connecting to a Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router. However my friend,  
and myself have Linksys WRT54G w.routers(of different versions with  
different fw) and I can get it to connect to either. Is anyone  
familliar with this issue? I have talked with Linksys, Apple, and  
solicited advice on many forums, to no avail.
My router will even show the Lombard with a valid IP, I can ping IPs,  
and domain names....but no connection with the internet. Again, I  
take it to work, and connect perfect on the older model router.
